The climate crisis is threatening our lives all over the world.
For the integration and consistency of carbon-neutral activities, the emergence of the Korea Carbon Neutral Environmental Union, a civic NGO, is a great hope, and the implementation plan is carried out through the 'Vision 2030' strategy and tasks.
With the vision of 'Active Action of the Korea Carbon Neutral Environmental Union for the Conservation of the Global Environment', the government will establish the goal of the Korea Carbon Neutral Environmental Union for carbon neutrality in 2050, announce an action plan for action, and publicize it to the public.
The Korea Carbon Neutrality Environmental Union sets goals for responding to environmental and climate change, monitors eco-friendly infrastructure projects, develops and distributes challenges through a carbon-neutral plan. Strengthen legal environmental standards, systematically manage air and water pollutants and waste emissions, and operate under a separate total system in the metropolitan area.
From 2025, we will establish a greenhouse gas inventory to cooperate with companies and universities, establish a carbon neutral implementation system, and expand the development and application of eco-friendly technologies through climate change adaptation measures. In addition, a carbon neutral management committee will be established to deliberate and operate policies and achieve the 10,000 Kw power generation goal by 2030 with renewable energy facilities such as solar power.
Through the eco-friendly conversion campaign of business vehicles, we will promote the conversion of 30,000 electric and hydrogen vehicles by 2030 and contribute to revitalizing the resource circulation economy through recycling and reuse. We will also strive to preserve biodiversity and protect forest resources, and strengthen safety management through the 'KCEA 4u' safety brand for the lives and safety of the people.
The transition to carbon neutrality is an opportunity to lead economic innovation and climate response. The government, businesses, and the public will all take responsibility for this, and the Korea Carbon Neutrality Environmental Union will contribute to achieving carbon neutrality by monitoring and presenting directions. Your participation and service will make a big difference.
Korea's share of renewable energy is 9% as of 2023, the lowest among OECD countries. With demand for renewable energy expected to soar, the barriers to RE100 must be crossed, and carbon neutrality is a survival strategy that can no longer be delayed.
